Kleman is a French footwear brand born from a legacy of craftsmanship dating back to the post–World War II era, when shoemaker René Cléon began producing durable shoes in La Romagne, France. Officially established in 1988, the brand’s name—short for “Cléon Manufacture”—reflects its industrial heritage. Kleman originally supplied robust, functional footwear to French public services like railway workers, firefighters, and the military, earning a reputation for practicality and longevity.

Today, Kleman continues to produce all its shoes in France, staying true to its roots while appealing to a modern audience. Its designs, such as the iconic “Padror” derby, combine utilitarian workwear influences with understated French style. The brand emphasises sustainability, using European-sourced, vegetable-tanned leathers and local suppliers to minimise its environmental footprint.
